Traditional Music Lyrics

A traditional music and folk music archive of reference and educational materials. Very interesting site from the folks in the U.K.

Bluegrass Lyrics.com

Notes from the website:
The material on the site has been loosely organized according to artist, with an emphasis on the major figures and pioneers of traditional bluegrass. I prefer this to the traditional “alphabetical approach”, as it provides context for the songs, and allows one to go back and listen to some of the early original recordings and get a sense for the original “feel” of the songs.

Of course, many of these songs were recorded by multiple artists, and there will certainly be dissent regarding which songs should be associated with which artists. Also, much of this material was originally drawn from earlier sources than I have cited here. That said, I have tried to keep things in perspective wherever possible. Please feel free to contact me with your comments and suggestions. There is a brief discography listing the source recordings for many of the transcriptions on this site. There are also links to labels which promote bluegrass music. I may eventually link to resources for purchasing these recordings. I have attempted to provide a brief sketch for all featured artists, and hope very soon to have additional information and resources throughout the site. Your suggestions and contributions are welcome, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Bluegrass Net

A large part of this collection of bluegrass song lyrics was originally compiled by Motoya Kitagawa and is maintained on his site which is located in Japan. I decided to mirror these lyrics because connecting to the Japanese server from the United States could prove to be quite slow. I will NOT maintain an exact mirror of his site but continue to develop what he started on my own. I am in no way attempting to take any credit for Motoya Kitagawa's hard work. I am just trying to make his work more accessible to pickers on this side of the world.
